Ariff Akhir is a singer, musician, songwriter and the principal producer, engineer and owner of Purple Sound Productions.

Whilst studying in the UK in the late 90's, Ariff sang and played guitar in an acoustic blues band performing at university functions and live venues including a slot at an annual local music festival.

After graduating with a law degree from the University of Kent at Canterbury, Ariff returned to Malaysia and began performing as a solo singer-songwriter in Kuala Lumpur. Not too long later, he formed The Sofa Sessions and the band has since performed at events such as Rock The World 7, Mont'Kiara Jazz and Rhythm Fest. Starbucks Music Series and Fete De La Musique. The Sofa Sessions released an EP, Five Songs, in 2006 and are currently working on a full length album.

Apart from music that he has written for The Sofa Sessions and his own solo material, Ariff has had songs he composed used in advertisement campaigns and two compositions recorded by a Japanese rock band in Tokyo. Ariff also wrote the traditional song Patin Termerloh for Pahang state government's tourism campaign.

Having been a keen student of music technology and audio production since first setting up his own personal studio in 1999, his interest, passion and constant work in music and the recording arts have given Ariff the relavant experience and necessary expertise to further his career in audio production and in 2006, Ariff started Purple Sound Production as a business.

A selection of Ariff's audio production work include mastering for TV3's Mystarz LG season 2 music competition television programme, Troubadours' Voices From Next Door compilation album and Junk Magazine CDs vol. 1 - 9, mixing and mastering for Dewangga Sakti's Mabok Kepayang EP, Ian Chow and Tracy Wong's He Says, She Says album and production, mixing and mastering for Meor's Yang Terlintas Di Fikiran album, Roslan Madun's Puisi Tradisional album and Sohaimi Mior Hassan's Suatu Hari Nanti, Cinta and Keunikkan albums.
